Electromagnetic Channel 35-36: Transience
The hunger for experience and the voice that says I feel. Emotional desire driving the search for what has not yet been tried.

The Mechanic
Channel 36-35 connects the Solar Plexus motor with the Throat Center. Gate 36 (The Darkening of the Light) sits in the Solar Plexus and generates emotional desire for new experience. It is the crisis gate, creating an internal emotional turbulence that can only be resolved by entering the experience that the wave is pointing toward. Gate 35 (Progress) sits in the Throat and carries the voice of "I feel," the expression of having been through something and wanting to share what the passage revealed.
This is the only Manifesting Channel in the Experiential Circuit, and it gives the circuit its motor-to-Throat power. The emotional energy of Gate 36 drives directly toward expression through Gate 35. The person with this channel feels the desire for new experience and has the capacity to move toward it and articulate what they find.
The wave of Gate 36 is the individual emotional wave at its most restless. It moves from emotional excitement about what is coming to emotional crisis about what has not yet happened. The desire for new experience is constant, and it generates a perpetual sense that something is missing from the current situation. This is not pathological. It is the engine of experiential learning.
The Energy
The energy of 36-35 is hungry and expressive. These are people who need new experiences the way the Logic Circuit needs new data. Routine is the enemy. Stagnation triggers crisis. The emotional wave pushes them toward the unfamiliar, and the Throat connection means they will talk about what they encounter.
The crisis quality of Gate 36 is often misunderstood. The person is not creating drama for its own sake. They are experiencing the emotional pressure of unexplored territory, the feeling that there is something out there they have not yet tasted. When the experience is entered correctly (through emotional clarity, waiting through the wave), the resulting encounter produces genuine wisdom. When it is entered impulsively on the emotional high, the experience often disappoints.
In Relationships
Channel 36-35 is one of the most significant channels for relational dynamics. The desire for new experience can include the desire for new relational experience, which means people with this channel may struggle with monogamy, routine in partnership, or the settled quality of long-term relationships. This is not a character flaw. It is the circuit doing what it does.
The relational skill is channeling the desire for newness within the relationship rather than outside it. New experiences together, travel, learning, shared adventures, even new forms of intimacy, can feed the channel without threatening the partnership. The partner who understands this will suggest novelty rather than resisting the restlessness.
More marriages have broken over this channel than perhaps any other, because the emotional wave's movement from desire to disappointment gets mistaken for evidence that the relationship itself is wrong.
The Not-Self Expression
In the not-self, the desire for new experience becomes compulsive crisis-creation. The person generates emotional turbulence to force new experiences, burns through relationships and situations at unsustainable speed, and never stays long enough to extract the wisdom from any single experience.
The Signature Expression
In correct operation, this channel produces people whose breadth of experience becomes genuine wisdom. They have tried many things, felt deeply through each one, and can articulate what the passage through experience reveals about being human.
